Chinese Death Notarization Certificate
To process a death notarization certificate in China, which formally certifies the passing of a relative, you’ll need to prepare the following materials:
- 1. Your own identification document, such as an ID card.
- 2. If you’re appointing someone else to handle this for you, you’ll need to provide their ID card and a handwritten power of attorney. This document should explain why this person is assisting you, and make sure to sign it personally.
- 3. Proof of your relationship with the deceased, such as a birth certificate, household registration book, or employment contract that demonstrates your relationship.
- 4. A death certificate, usually issued by a hospital, public security organ, or a death declaration judgment from a court. If Beijing issues the certificate, you don’t need to worry about household registration issues; if another location issues it, the deceased’s household registration should have been in Beijing prior to their passing.
- 5. If the materials you provide are not sufficient or conclusive, the notary might ask you to supplement the documents.
Additionally, if the notarization certificate is intended for use in countries like the United States, South Korea, Austria, Russia, Kazakhstan, etc., you may also need a notarized translation.
